Guard dogs

Some dogs have jobs that we humans give them like Guide dogs, Guard dogs,Therapy dogs,Rescue Dogs, search dogs, and hunting dogs. But I want to talk to you about Dogs who Guard. Guarding dogs has it's good and bads. The bad part is that the dog will likely be agressive and which we talked about is not a good thing. And a good thing about it is that it will protect the house. Now it's up to you on what you want and what is right for you and that dog. Remember that a guard dog can be agressive not only to strangers but to people you love and even you.

Kysa's Music Codes

Just be calm

Dogs know when you are scared, Frustrated, Or excited.

Scared: Dogs are the Leader, they can take over because you are the weak one in the family.

So just be clam then, when you are calm your dog is calm.

We all love it when dogs get excited but too much excited is bad for the dog because he jumps, nips, humps, and pulls you, and you don't want any of that.

The hot/cold weather

It's 100 degrees outside and it's very hot. All you want to do is stay home and drink cold water. Well it's the same with your dog, they can't stand the hot weather. Go to www.weather.com and all you have to do is type your zip code and it will tell you what time to walk your dog. My advice don't walk your dog at 2:00 pm when it's hot.

And please don't leave your dog outside in the snow it's really cold.

Why neutering is important

Dogs who don't get neuterd have puppies and you know what that means finding them a home. Neutering reduces the population of dogs so there won't be so many in shelter. Male dogs will fight if not neuterd and fighting is not good. There are also health risks for the dog. Let's just say they won't have to go through all of that. And plus it stops humping in your leg lol. So please do the best thing for your dog and neuter him.

Before adopting a dog

Before Adopting a dog please ask the breeder this questions.

1. Is it good with kids and other dogs? What about Cats?
2. Does it have medical problems you have to take care of?
3. Did he get neuterd and Vaccinated?
4. How much money is it?
5. How old is it?
6. Can I interact with the dog alone?
7. What kind of food does he eat?

Now ask yourself this questions.

1. Am I ready for a dog?
2. Do I have time for a dog?
3. Why do I want a dog?
4. Do I have the money to take care of the dog?
5. Does my house have enough space for the dog?
6. What type of energy do I want in a dog?
7. Do I want an older dog or a puppy dog?

Remember: DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Different personalities.

Dogs have different personalities like us. They can be Hyper,Laid back,Calm,Dominant,Shy,Scared even confident. So if you were looking for a laid back kinda dog and got a Hyper or a Dominant one instead don't be surprized you just did not do the research right. You maby did not spent time alone in the shelter with the dog so you get to know it's real personality. Sure he may give you a kiss and oh right away you get him but what happens when he bites you at home? Then you had to return him because thats not what you were looking for. So please don't blame the dog for it's personality blame yourself for not doing the research about the dog and understanding the dog.

Obssesions dogs have.

Is your dog obssesed over this things? The ball,it's tail, a shadow or a light? Then it's time to snap him out of it and be a normal dog.
Obssesion is not a good thing, it's just not healthy for the dog. I think that exercise would work and some fun playtime with the dog to get him out of his obssesions.

A cute dog is not always the best.

When I was 16 or 17 I had a cute dog named KC. He was a Bizhone, Poodle mix and he was so cute! But by that time I did not know anything about dogs so it was my new and first experience. It turned out that he was not the best for us, he may be cute outside but in the inside I was scared of him. He had biten me so many times I can't count. So we had to give him away. I learned that day that I was not the leader in the house he was.
So just think about the breed for the moment and study it before the cuteness gets in to you.

Leadership

Who is the leader in the house you or your dog? Do you give your dog dicipline or is it just affection? Do you let the dog get away with anything in your house because he is your baby and he is sooo cute? Does he listen and respect you? Dogs need leadership in their lives. They need someone to give them dicipline not just affection. They need someone to trust. Otherwise the dog will take over the role and ruin your life. There are 2 things in a dogs world you ither lead or follow. And I know you can do it!

Leaders do things first not the followers. They eat first,They walk first... and so on lol. Do not let the dog claim your furniture and your things. He needs to make sure of whats yours and whats his.

Separation anxieties

I don't know why but some dogs have this. Have you ever went home and your neighbores start complining about your dog barking all day? or when you get home you find pee or poo on the house? Then he is afraid you will leave him for good! So it's time to tell him "look I am not leaving you, I am just going to work." Make him get used to you leaving the house. Make him be confident by being alone. Yes that means sleeping alone too. The dog is so used to spent time with you that he goes nuts when you leave the house. Make him feel good by having his own privacy in his bed, cage or something thats his he stays on.

Dog agressions

A dog has 4 types of agressions:

1 Fear
2 Protection
3 Territorial
4 Dominance

Dominance and protection can be prevented!

We talked about Leadership and body language now lets talk about this.
When a dog growls and bites he is an agressive dog and he can be very dangerous to others even you.
it's up you to stop this before it get's to this point where he has to be put down which is not fair because you did not stop it. I want to share with you some rules I learned when you come across a dangerous dog.
1 No eye contact
2 No mouvements
3 No touching
4 No talking to the dog
Just ignore and stay still hope it helps.

Do's and dont's

Don't hit a dog.
Don't shout at a dog.
(Why??? bcause you don't like to be shouted at neither does the dog)Plus it never works)
Don't spoil a dog.
Don't feed too much the dog.
(why??? bcause it can become obesity)
Don't underestimate the dog.
Don't play tug of war with dog.
(Why??? The dog practice his agresstion in it.)
Don't humanaize the dog.
(Why??? Because a dog is a dog and they do dog things but we treat them like they are humans)
Don't give affection at the wrong time.
(why??? well it will encourage to be that behavior)
Don't introduce to dogs in ones property. Introduce them outside.
(why???? well how would you like a stranger come to your house?)Thats the dogs property)
(Dominance)
Never stare at a dog in the eye... it's a sign of dominance.
(You do not know the dog)
Never kiss a dog you don't know and always ask if it's friendly

Never touch a dog in the head is another sign of dominance
Never touch a dog in the mouth.

Do your research for your dog.
(So you can have a wonderful dog but remember no dog is perfect)
Do socialize your dog.
do exercise your dog.
Do be the leader and train your dog.
Do Neuter your dog at a vet.
Do give your dog heart worm medication.
Do be calm around the dog.
Do be patient for your dog.
Do use leash when walking your dog.

Dog body language

Understanding your dog by looking at it's...

Ears
Good: Relaxed and perked up.
Bad: ears are up or forward.
Tail
Good: Tail is wagging
Bad: Tail is behing the legs
Nose- good thing happening
Eyes
Good: No eye contact
Bad: eyes stare at you
Body
Good: relaxed body no hair standing
Bad: Body might shake, freeze and hair might stand up oh and leg is raised.
mouth
Good: Relaxed might pant or just be closed
Bad: Licking nose (stress) growl and show teeth.

What are they saying????

I like you - may lick you, Tail wag, may sniff you.

Back off - Eye staring, growling showing teeth, leg raised, tail between legs, freeze.

I want to play - body bow position and tail is wagging.
